May 23, 1958 — March 20, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Father Brother Friend Boyfriend Family, who left this world surrounded by the unwavering love of his closest family on March 20, 2026. Born on May 23, 1958, in Everett, WA, he was 67 years old at the time of his passing. His journey was marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone he encountered. He was predeceased by his cherished wife, Paula Lynn Markham, in 2013, his brother Danny Markham, and his parents, Lauralee Sawyer and Dallas Markham. His legacy of love and laughter lives on through his devoted children: Kelly Dean Markham and his wife Kara, Rocky James Markham, Joelle Marie Gaddis and her husband Chris, and Amber Marie Burns and her husband Robert. He was the proud grandfather of four, including his grandson Cameron Dean Burns, who was the apple of his eye. Father Brother Friend Boyfriend Family's life was enriched by the companionship of Joanne Brock, who was not only his loving partner for eight years but also a dedicated caregiver alongside his daughter Amber. Their presence provided comfort and strength during his final days. He is also survived by his brother Terry Markham and his wife Angie, and his sister Susan Cook and her spouse Tim, who stood by him with love and support. A man of the outdoors, he found solace and joy in nature’s embrace. Whether casting a line while fishing, tending to his garden, or setting up camp by the river, he cherished every moment spent beneath the open sky. His love for snow skiing was a passion he eagerly shared with his children, creating memories that will be cherished forever. He found immense pleasure in the simple joys of life, like the peace found on a boat ride or cheering for his beloved Seahawks with the zeal of a true 12th Man fan. To those who knew him, he was a friend to all, possessing an innate ability to connect with people—whether in the grocery line or on life's journey. His confidence and outgoing nature were matched only by his sense of humor and the endearing goofiness that brought laughter to many a morning wake-up call. He embraced life fully, with a song in his heart and a smile on his face. Father Brother Friend Boyfriend Family was baptized as a Lutheran, a testament to his faith and spiritual journey. His family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Terry and Angie Markham for their unwavering support during this difficult time, and to the hospice team, whose compassionate care and bereavement services were a source of comfort. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy. As we remember him, let us celebrate a life well-lived, cherishing the memories and the love he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace, embraced by the love that surrounds him always.
