November 8, 1938 — March 29, 2026

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Andre Joseph Messier, who left us peacefully on March 29, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on November 8, 1938, in New Westminster, BC, Andre was a cherished soul whose warmth and kindness touched all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Andre was the beloved son of the late Annie and Leo Messier, and he grew up in a loving home alongside his dear siblings in Maillardville. Predeceased by his parents, his sister Lorraine, and his devoted wife of 64 years, Betty, he is survived by his children, Monica (Kevin), Lynn, and Andre (Colleen). He is also lovingly remembered by his brothers, Rene (Delia ) and Rob (Erica). Andre was a pillar of devotion and strength, not only to his family but also to his community. He was a doting grandfather to four grandchildren Chelsea ( Eli ), Taylor, Alexandra, Douglas and a great-grandfather to Brinley all of whom will forever cherish the stories and smiles he shared with them. Married to the love of his life, Betty, on June 25, 1960, Andre was a devoted husband and father. Together, they built a beautiful family and created countless memories filled with love and laughter. His career took him from working at Fraser Mills, Canada Post, then Coquitlam School Board, where he worked diligently until his well-deserved retirement in 2000. He was a man of faith, a dedicated member of the Holy Family Church in Sechelt, where he found community and solace. A man of simple pleasures, Andre had a passion for puzzles and reading, activities that reflected his inquisitive mind and love for learning. His stories, always shared with a smile, brought joy to those around him, and his gentle spirit was felt by everyone he encountered. In this time of sorrow, the family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital Cardiac Care Unit for the compassionate care they provided to Andre. Their kindness and professionalism were a comfort during his final days. As we celebrate the life of Andre Messier, we remember a man who embodied love, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to his family and faith. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished forever. A public memorial will be announced at a later date where friends and loved ones can gather to celebrate his remarkable journey. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
