Farin Andrew Small Sr.
May 26, 1959 — January 18, 2024
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we announce the passing of Farin Andrew Small Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on January 18, 2024. Born on May 26, 1959, in Buffalo, New York, Farin was the cherished son of the late Ida Mae Small and James Small. He was a beacon of love and warmth in the lives of all who knew him.
Farin spent his formative years in Buffalo, where he cultivated a deep love for family and community. He graduated from Lenox High School in Lenox, Massachusetts, in 1978, marking the beginning of a life filled with passion, dedication, and joy. Farin's heart was as big as his love for cooking, a talent he honed into an art form. To him, cooking was more than just a skill; it was an expression of love. The meals he prepared were not just food but a way of bringing family together, creating cherished memories that will continue to nourish those he left behind.
Farin was also a gifted basketball player, whose prowess on the court was matched only by his dedication to those he loved. His competitive spirit was not confined to the basketball court; it was reflected in his approach to life, always striving to be the best version of himself for his family.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Christ, where he found solace and strength in his faith and fellowship. His hobbies included playing cards and sharing laughter with friends, moments that will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to partake in them.
Farin’s greatest joy came from his family, especially the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a guiding light for his children, Ivy (Akili), Yolonda Moody, and Farin Small Jr., and a loving brother to Michael Small (Susan) and Steven Small of Buffalo, NY. His grandchildren, Kiyah, Shamiyah, TJ'Nari, Cory, Chrisshawna, Jasmine, and Zenaya, along with his great-grandchildren, Kalea, Zion, Cory, and Maniyah, were blessed with his affection and wisdom.
Though predeceased by his parents and brother Winton Small, Farin's legacy endures through the lives he touched and the love he shared. His spirit continues to inspire those who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.
In a private ceremony, Farin’s family will gather to honor his life and legacy, cherishing the memories he created with those he loved. As we reflect on his life, we are filled with a profound sense of gratitude for the incredible human being he was. Farin's love, wisdom, and strength continue to guide us, offering comfort and inspiration even in his absence. His spirit lives on in each of us, a testament to a life well-lived and a legacy that will forever be a part of our hearts.
Rest in peace, dear Farin. Your love and light will guide us always.
