In Loving Memory

Fareed Abdullah
October 13, 1948 — July 5, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Fareed Abdullah, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on October 13, 1948, in Middletown, Ohio, Fareed leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and service that touched the lives of many.
Fareed was the cherished son of the late Freemon Anderson Jr. and Barbara Jean Herman, who predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife and lifelong companion, Azeezah, with whom he shared a remarkable 58-year marriage. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Ameer Abdullah, Rashied Abdullah, Ayesha Abdullah, and Muhammad Ibn Abdullah. Fareed’s influence and love extended to his two siblings, Dee Spearman and Ronald Anderson, as well as to his 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored dearly.
A proud alumnus of John F. Kennedy High School, Fareed graduated in 1967 before pursuing higher education at Case Western Reserve University, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work. His commitment to serving others was evident from his early years, as he dedicated four years to military service in the United States Air Force. During this time, he was stationed in London, England, where he shared many adventures with Azeezah.
Fareed was a compassionate and dedicated professional, whose career spanned over three decades as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor. His work at numerous social service agencies in Cleveland, with his last position held at Ethan Crossing, was marked by his unwavering commitment to helping individuals overcome their struggles and find hope and healing.
Fareed's life was a testament to faith and devotion. After embracing Islam alongside his beloved Azeezah, their lives were centered around worship and spiritual growth, providing a strong foundation for their family and community.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cleveland Clinic Hospice, Main Campus, for their exceptional care and support during Fareed’s final days. Their kindness and professionalism were a great asset to the family during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Fareed’s memory to a cause close to his heart, continuing his legacy of compassion and service.
Fareed Abdullah’s life was a beacon of love, wisdom, and generosity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.
