In Loving Memory of Facundo Nieves Sr.
Facundo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, peacefully departed this world on July 25, 2026, at the age of 97. Facundo was born on November 27, 1928, in the quaint town of Patillas, Puerto Rico, to his cherished parents, Grandpa and Grandma. He has now joined them along with his brothers, sisters, and his son Hector in eternal rest.
Facundo's life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion. He met the love of his life, Cornelia Rodriguez, and they married on July 11, 1953. Their 73-year union was marked by a deep commitment to family and faith, and together they raised eight wonderful children. Facundo leaves behind his beloved wife, Cornelia, and their children: Facundo Jr. and his wife Sue, Margarita and her husband James, Iris and her husband Raul, Ruben, Eugenio and his wife Robbie, Wigberto and his wife Michelle, and Teresa and her husband Jose. Facundo was the proud grandfather to Noah, Roxanne, Ryan, and Eric, and a great-grandfather to little Isaiah, who brought immense joy to his life.
Professionally, Facundo was a well-respected entrepreneur. For many years, he owned and operated "Frank's Food Mart," a neighborhood grocery store that was more than just a place to shop. It was a community hub where neighbors were treated with kindness and respect, and where Facundo's warm and welcoming spirit was felt by all who entered.
A devout believer in Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity, Facundo's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was known for his open, welcoming arms to anyone in need and was a man who prayed fervently for others. His life was guided by the belief in setting what was wrong, right, and he lived his life with integrity and compassion.
Facundo had a curious mind and a love for tinkering with mechanical items. He delighted in taking things apart and rebuilding them, a testament to his fascination with understanding how the world around him worked.
A service to celebrate Facundo's remarkable life will be held on July 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrews Church, located at Addison, Chicago. Family, friends, and all those whose lives Facundo touched are warmly invited to attend.
