In Loving Memory
F. Gordon Mundy
August 16, 1933 — March 18, 2026
It is with profound love and heartfelt sorrow that the children of F. Gordon Mundy announce his peaceful passing at the age of 92. Born on August 16, 1933, in Montreal, Quebec, Dad was a man whose life was a tapestry woven with love, adventure, and service. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, enduring love, and a family that spans generations.
Gordon was the beloved son of Frederick Leonard Mundy and Stella May Mundy (née Pasmore), whose values and spirit he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his dear wife, Ethel Lauretta Mundy (née McLean), with whom he shared a beautiful marriage of 62 years, filled with shared passions such as golfing, cross-country skiing, boating, camping, and traveling. Together, they raised five children by 1962, creating a home that was filled with laughter and love.
Dad's life was marked by dedication both in his professional and personal pursuits. His career with a global company saw him rise through the ranks to reach the top of the corporate ladder, a testament to his hard work and commitment. This role afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively, often with Ethel by his side, exploring the world together. He was excited with the opportunity to travel on the Concorde to one of his destinations.
An active Salvationist, Dad found great joy in music, playing in the Salvation Army band from a young age. One of his fondest memories was accompanying his father, a Salvation Army Officer, to Camp Borden to play for soldiers preparing for war. His dedication to music and service was a cornerstone of his life, reflecting his deep commitment to his faith and community.
Dad had a zest for life that was infectious. Dad was a gracious host, often regaling guests with stories that brought laughter and joy to all who gathered around him.
He is survived by his loving children, Debra Carr (Stan Carr), Karen Allen (Steve Allen), Cheryl Fagner (Tom Fagner), Steven Mundy (Wendy Mundy), and Susan Head (Alistair Head). Dad's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Gary Carr (Rebecca Carr), Jaci Robinson (Rich Robinson), Talie Coates (Tim Coates), Ian Carr (Brittany Carr), Michelle Allen, Tyler Allen (Megan Toner), Megan Fagner (Steven Cribb), Laura Brace (Benjamin Brace), Ryan Fagner, Mark Lato (Antonella Lato), Kristen Lato (Patrick Wojtowicz), and his great-grandchildren, McLean Robinson, Molly Robinson, Ryder Coates, Peyton Coates, David Carr, Layla Carr, Naomi Carr, Caleb Carr, Arthur Carr, Eli Carr, Brooklyn Cribb, Elyse Cribb, Eve Brace, Zoe Brace, Marco Lato, Kaitlin Head, and Emma Head. He is also survived by his cherished sister, Evelyn Waines (Bert Waines).
The family extends a special, heartfelt gratitude to two of Dad's children, Karen Allen and Steve Mundy for their devoted care and support of dad in his later years. Their selflessness and dedication are deeply appreciated by the entire family, who reside in various parts of the world.
In accordance with Dad's wishes, a private interment ceremony will be held at a later date to honor his life. In this time of remembrance, the family invites those who knew him to celebrate his life by recalling the laughter, the music, and the love he shared with so many.
As we say goodbye to our father, we hold on to the memories of his warmth, humor, and unwavering love. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who had the privilege to know him.
