In Loving Memory

Kristen Brown Evie Brown
October 29, 2018 — August 12, 2026
Evie Brown, a radiant light in the lives of all who knew her, passed away on August 12, 2026, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. Born on October 29, 2018, in Hopkins, MN, Evie brought immense joy to her family and friends with her kind spirit and vibrant personality.
Evie attended Alice Smith Elementary, where she was a member of the Spanish immersion program. Her enthusiasm for learning was evident as she embraced new experiences with curiosity and joy. Evie was an active participant in both gymnastics and swimming, showcasing her natural talent and love for movement.
From a young age, Evie displayed a remarkable talent for the arts. She enjoyed creating art projects and baking, often filling her home with the delightful smell of freshly baked treats. Her artistic flair was further demonstrated through her photography, with several of her pictures earning ribbons at the Brown County Fair—some purple, some blue, and others red.
Evie had an affinity for all things colorful and magical. Anything rainbow, purple, or sparkly captured her imagination, as did her love for unicorns and puppies. Her family fondly remembers her delight during a special birthday party where she had the chance to ride a unicorn in her own backyard. Her room was a testament to her love for stuffed animals, so full that her bed was almost hidden beneath them.
Evie's personality was as bright as her smile. She was shy yet kind, sweet, smart, and loving. She was a great friend, known for her silliness and the best hugs that could brighten anyone's day. Those who knew her will always remember her as a gentle soul who brought warmth and laughter into their lives.
Evie is survived by her devoted grandfather, Kenneth Simons; her loving aunts, Amanda (Dean) Paulson, Kelly (Ryan) Okerlund, Teresa (Travis) Okerlund; her loving uncle, Aaron (Kaylee) Brown; and her many beloved cousins, Sullivan Okerlund, Jack Okerlund, Bently Paulson, Milford Paulson, Leo Paulson, Elsalyn Okerlund, Ameilia Okerlund, and Rowan Okerlund. She also leaves behind her cherished daycare family and numerous great aunts, great uncles, and cousins. Evie was preceded in death by her mother, Kristen; grandmothers Rosetta Simons and Alice Brown; and great grandparents Milford and Hazel Barnes, and Bernard and Berniece Simons.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Evie's life, providing a space for her family to celebrate her memory in an intimate setting.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Evie's daycare family, the Hopkins Police Department, and the city of Hopkins for their unwavering support and kindness during this difficult time. Evie's presence will be deeply missed, yet her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
