Evelyn Marie Lane Langley

Evelyn Marie Lane Langley, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, after a courageous journey with dementia. Born on February 5, 1942, in Princeton, NC, Evelyn was the cherished daughter of Herman and Ethel Lane. Evelyn's life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication. She was a devoted wife to the late Bruce Langley, whom she married on June 21, 1958. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising two wonderful sons, David (Darlene) and Jerry (Lynn) Langley, who carry on their mother's legacy of kindness and generosity. Her professional life included meaningful work within the Wilson County School system, and later, she channeled her creativity and skill as a beautician. Evelyn was not only a master of her craft but also a gifted seamstress and cook, known for her ability to create beautiful garments and delicious meals that brought joy to many. Evelyn's family was always at the heart of her world. She was blessed with three grandchildren, Matthew Langley (Christie), Brandon Langley, and Rachel Langley, and two great-grandchildren, David Cristian and Daniel Langley. Evelyn took immense pride in their accomplishments and was a constant presence at their sports events and special occasions, always offering her unwavering support and love. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her immediate family. Evelyn had a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel cherished and appreciated. She was known for sending heartfelt cards for every occasion and had the rare ability to see the good in all people. As a caregiver, she provided comfort and care to several family members, embodying the spirit of selflessness and love. Evelyn is survived by her sons, David and Jerry, her brother Bobby Lane (Lisa), her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and extended family members. She is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Bruce, and her brothers Pete and Edward (Shine) Lane. A service to honor and celebrate Evelyn's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 6:30 PM at Joyner’s Funeral Home, located at Raleigh Road, Wilson, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in memory of Evelyn's generous spirit. The Langley family extends their profound gratitude to the exceptional caregivers and staff at The Landings of Rocky Mount Mills Memory Care Unit, and a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice of Wilson and Rocky Mount for their compassionate support during Evelyn's final days. Evelyn's warmth, grace, and kindness will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love and caring will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends for years to come.
