Born on March 1, 1938, in Smithtown, New York, Evelyn was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Jessie Dwyer. Her early years were spent in the warmth of a close-knit family, sharing her childhood with her siblings, Ronald and Margaret, who predeceased her. Her commitment and passion for education left an indelible mark on countless students and colleagues, reflecting her belief in the power of knowledge and community. Evelyn was blessed with a long and loving marriage of sixty years to her devoted husband, John Keane, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a family rooted in love and resilience, nurturing three wonderful children: Cheryl Lowry (Marty), John Keane Jr. (Patricia), and Tricia Chiaramonte. Evelyn's family was her greatest treasure, and she reveled in the joy of her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring legacy of love and kindness. A woman of simple pleasures, Evelyn found peace and joy in the beauty of her garden. Her green thumb was legendary, and her vibrant flowers were a testament to her nurturing spirit. Her garden was not only a place of growth and beauty but also a sanctuary where she could reflect and find solace. Evelyn possessed a heart full of love, especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
