Evelyn Harris

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn Harris, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, on April 8, 2026, at The Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville, NC, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease. Evelyn was born on July 21, 1939, in Locust Grove, OK, to Fred and Dorothy Crisp. Her journey through life was one marked by love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. Evelyn's early years were spent in the embrace of a loving family, alongside her parents and siblings. She was predeceased by her cherished parents, Fred and Dorothy Crisp, her sisters Millie, JoAnn Coons, Connie, her brother Clifton Crisp, and her devoted husband, Rev. Kenneth Harris. Evelyn and Kenneth shared a beautiful life together, marrying on July 2, 1956, and enjoying 35 wonderful years of marriage before his passing. Their union was blessed with two children, Rev. Ken Harris, who is married to Barbie, and Sonia Harris. Evelyn was the proud grandmother to Patrick Harris, Zachary Harris, Sydney Evans, Gabriel Evans, and Trinity Evans, each of whom she loved deeply. Evelyn's academic journey was exemplary; she graduated from Locust Grove High School at the tender age of 16 through an accelerated program. Her keen intellect and work ethic led her to a fulfilling career in the aviation industry. She worked for McDonnell Douglas in Tulsa before embarking on an impressive 32-year tenure as a computer programmer with American Airlines. After retirement, Evelyn continued to share her warmth and charm in the retail sector, working with Macy's, Steinmart, and other establishments. Evelyn's life was deeply rooted in faith and community. She was an active member of the Woodlake Assembly of God Church and The Assembly at Broken Arrow. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. She was an avid traveler, exploring the world with visits to Hawaii, Cyprus, and other destinations. Evelyn's adventurous spirit and curiosity for the world enriched her life and brought joy to those she encountered. Evelyn will be remembered for her generous heart and her unwavering dedication to helping others. She was always ready to lend a hand, whether assisting colleagues at work or supporting her family with meals, administrative tasks, and much more. Her legacy of kindness and selflessness will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate to know her. Evelyn is survived by her beloved children, grandchildren, and siblings, Donna Littlefield, Beverly Ingram, Brenda Alley, Norman Crisp, as well as a host of nieces and nephews who adored her. Her memory will be a guiding light for her family and all who were touched by her gentle spirit. A memorial service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held on April 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, OK. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived, honoring Evelyn's legacy of love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Evelyn's memory to organizations dedicated to Alzheimer's research and support, a cause close to her heart. Evelyn Harris will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Kenneth and family in the loving embrace of the Lord.
