Evelyn Bertha (Gwiszcz) Schulkins-Chaka passed away peacefully at Samaritan on April 28, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on December 21, 1940, in Philadelphia, Evelyn was the cherished daughter of Veronica Bertha (Tomkiewicz) Trotter, father Bruce J Gwiszcz and stepfather John J Trotter. A proud alumna of Little Flower High School, Evelyn graduated with the class of 1957, embarking on a journey that would touch the lives of many. She was a dedicated professional, having held several esteemed positions as an executive administrative assistant with Provident Mtg, US Mtg, Smith Breslin Assoc, and Sanner Corp. Her career was marked by diligence and an unwavering commitment to excellence—a reflection of her character in all pursuits. Evelyn's heart was most at home within her beloved community at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, where she was an active member for over three decades. Her steadfast dedication saw her frequently serving on committees and volunteering for the annual church yard sale, embodying the true spirit of fellowship and service. Her church family was an integral part of her life, providing a network of love and support that she cherished deeply. Summers in Ocean City, NJ were a source of joy for Evelyn, where she enjoyed the beach and boardwalk and her family’s company. She appreciated spending time with her church friends and creating cherished memories with her family. Known for her kindness and gentle demeanor, Evelyn was a beacon of warmth and compassion to all who knew her. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Chaka, and her parents, Veronica and Bruce Gwiszcz and stepfather John Trotter. She is survived by her son, Bruce Schulkins, of Ocean City NJ and Greenville Delaware. A service will be held on May 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, located at 442 Rt 73, Berlin, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Evelyn's memory to Holy Communion Lutheran Church at https://www.hclchurch.org/. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her home health aide for the compassionate care and support provided to Evelyn in her final days. Evelyn's gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to her faith and family will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of her company.
