January 2, 1963 — March 15, 2026

EVANELINE J. Barnett, known affectionately as "Aunt Van" to many, was born on January 2, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, and peacefully passed away in her sleep at home on March 15, 2026. Her journey through life was filled with grace, warmth, and an unyielding spirit that touched all who knew her. Born to the late Willie Daniel and Evelyn Barnett, EVANELINE was one of five children. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, her brother Daniel (fondly remembered as Danny) Barnett, and her sisters Juanita Barnett Brinkley, W. Jean Barnett, and W. Mae Barnett. Despite the heartache of these losses, EVANELINE remained a beacon of strength and love for her surviving family members, including her nephews James W. Barnett and Eric L. Barnett, her niece Samone L. Johnson-Barnett, and her great-niece Beverlymae J. Barnett. Her special cousins Jo Jo, Winky, Yvonne, April, David, and Sherell, along with a large extended family, were all recipients of her unwavering affection. EVANELINE graduated from Venable High School in 1978, and she carried the values and friendships formed there throughout her life. Her career was a testament to her resilience and adaptability, Van Worked for the Ark Baltimore, the Arch of Chesapeake, and the Chimes. Whether she was engaged in janitorial work, sorting, or any task presented to her, she handled each with grace and charm, retiring in January 2022 after a fulfilling career. Her life was as vibrant as her personality. Known in her youth as the "Disco Doll," EVANELINE had a love for dancing that never faded. Her hobbies included a fondness for social media, which she used to connect with family and friends—a window to the world she cherished. She was also a movie enthusiast and a spirited party-goer, always ready to share her radiant smile and infectious laughter. EVANELINE was a woman of immense kindness and generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand, regardless of the circumstances. Her happy demeanor and genuine care for others left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She loved deeply and was loved in return, her familial bonds stretching far and wide. In honoring her memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society, an organization close to EVANELINE's heart. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Georgetown Kansas Center in Bel-Air for their compassionate care, and they thank God for blessing their lives with such a special person as Aunt Van. While EVANELINE J. Barnett did not have grandchildren of her own, the legacy of her love and kindness lives on in the lives of her family and friends. She leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories, woven with laughter, love, and an unwavering spirit that will forever be held dear. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
