Eva Mae Stephens, a cherished soul who graced this world with her presence for 95 remarkable years, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 1, 2026, in her beloved family home. Born on October 25, 1930, in the tranquil town of Moyie Springs, Idaho, Eva was the cherished daughter of Elmer and Mable Schroeder, who predeceased her, setting the stage for a life rich in love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to family and community.
Eva's early years were spent in the embrace of Moyie Springs' natural beauty, a place that shaped her love for gardening, camping, and the simple joys of life. Her hands were skilled in nurturing both plants and people, and her home was always filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods and the warmth of open doors and welcoming hugs. Her passion for canning was legendary, preserving not just fruits and vegetables, but memories that would nourish her family for generations.
She married the love of her life, Earl Stephens, on August 23 in Kootenai, Idaho, embarking on a journey together that spanned 72 devoted years. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, filled with shared dreams and mutual support. Earl, along with their sons Daniel and Edward, welcomed her into eternal rest with open arms.
Eva's legacy thrives through her surviving children, Julie, Michael, Patricia, and Timothy, each carrying forward her grace and strength. She leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Eva’s life was rich with service and community involvement. She was a dedicated member of the Eagles, and her career with the city of Moyie Springs left an indelible mark. Her commitment to her community was matched only by her love for her family, with whom she shared countless camping adventures and heartwarming gatherings.
Her gentle spirit and ever-present smile brought comfort to all who knew her. Eva's life was a tapestry woven with kindness, hospitality, and a profound love for those around her. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her legacy of love and compassion will forever guide and inspire those she leaves behind.
A celebration of Eva’s extraordinary life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bonners Ferry Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor a life well-lived, sharing stories and memories that reflect the joy and love Eva brought into the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Eva’s name to a charity of your choice, a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was defined by giving and caring for others. May we all find solace in knowing that Eva Mae Stephens’ spirit lives on in the hearts and lives she touched so deeply.
