Eva Faye Helm, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her home on September 8, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with dementia. Born on October 23, 1939, in Hazard, Kentucky, Eva's life was a testament to love, resilience, and service. Eva was the cherished daughter of Frances and Timothy Weston, who predeceased her, along with her husband, Alfred Helm, and their sons, Calvin Eugene Helm and Earl Lee Helm. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Janice Marie Neff and Sheila Lynn Batten, her loving son, Timothy Helm, and a legacy of five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a growing lineage of great-great-grandchildren. Eva and Alfred Helm married on June 15, 1956, in Chicago, sharing 42 wonderful years together. Their union was marked by a profound love and partnership as they raised five children, creating a family rich with laughter and warmth. An accomplished beautician, Eva graduated from beauty school in 1958 and opened her own salon in 1961. Over the course of her thirty-plus-year career, she thrived in her craft, leaving a mark on countless clients with her creativity and style. Her salon was more than a business; it was a haven where her infectious smile and off-the-wall humor brightened the lives of all who entered. Eva's faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of The Church Of God, she found joy and purpose in singing in the choir and serving in pantry services. Her love for God was evident in her daily life and through her tireless dedication to feeding the hungry and offering warmth to the homeless with blankets. Her selfless spirit and unwavering love left an indelible impact on those around her. Eva's laugh could light up any room, and her presence brought joy and comfort to her family and friends. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Brickyard Healthcare - Brandywine Care Center for the exceptional care and compassion shown to their dear mother and grandmother.
