Eustace "Ibaba" Davis

Eustace "Ibaba" Davis, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on November 22, 1951, in Grays Hill, Antigua, W.I., Ibaba was the cherished son of the late Albertha Phillips (Richardson) and Phoenix (Cecil) Davis. He is now reunited with his parents, as well as his dear siblings, Launa Davis and Winston Davis. Ibaba leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, cherished by his surviving children: Nikeya "Nikki" (Pressley) Stuart, Xavier "X" Pressley, Javaire Akeem Eustace Davis, Ibaba Davis, Nyah Davis, and stepson Ahmed Massey. He will also be fondly remembered by his siblings, Leroy (Cowley) Davis, Joan Davis, and Elaine Davis, along with his five grandchildren: Cory "Sha'ul" Stuart, Tavianna Pressley, Dallas Davis, Denver Davis, and Taleyannah Williams. Ibaba is survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews who adored him deeply. He will also be deeply missed by the Loovy family of Bird Road Ottos in Antigua and a host of friends and family in St. Croix, USVI. A proud alumnus of Nut Grove Public School, Ibaba dedicated over three decades of his life to his craft as a professional painter and over two decades as a building superintendent. His career also spanned work in an oil refinery in Antigua. A man of many talents, Ibaba was a passionate member of the Halcyon Steel Orchestra in Antigua, West Indies—a testament to his love for music and community. Ibaba embraced the Rastafarian way of life at the age of 19, committing himself to the principles of healthy living and spiritual growth. Known for his infectious laugh and his ability to light up any room, Ibaba was a fixture in the Harlem community, often seen on his walks along Lenox and 7th Avenues. His pastime was spending weekends in Marcus Garvey park with his friends talking about sports and their time in Antigua. Sundays were special times for him, filled with basketball and the joy of preparing Ital meals for his children and Rasta friends. His open door and welcoming heart exemplified the deep love he held for his family and friends. Ibaba's hobbies were reflective of his zest for life; he enjoyed teaching his children to ride bikes and to play many sports, and he was an avid fan of basketball and soccer. He confronted life's challenges with courage and grace, proving to be a wonderful father and brother whose presence will be profoundly missed. A service to celebrate Ibaba's life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Unity Funeral Chapel, located at 2352 Frederick Douglass Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ibaba's memory to a charity of your choice. Though Ibaba's physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit and the joy he brought to so many will remain in our hearts forever. May his soul rest in peace, wrapped in eternal love and light.
