Eula Gant

February 22, 1939 — May 26, 2026

Eula Gant, a beloved matriarch, beacon of kindness, and pillar of her community, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 26, 2026, at the Edenbrook Nursing Facility. Born on February 22, 1939, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Eula filled her 87 years with love, generosity, and a deep commitment to family and friends. Eula was the cherished daughter of Mable Bellamy and Samuel Vaught, both of whom predeceased her, along with her brother Phillip Poinsette and her treasured sons, Bryan Bellamy and James Gant Jr. Despite these profound losses, Eula’s spirit remained unbroken, sustained by her faith and the love of her surviving family. Eula shared a beautiful life with her husband, James Purvis Gant Sr., whom she married in January 1963. Together, they nurtured a family that grew to include six children: Reginald Bellamy, Patricia Carter, Anthony Bellamy, Zachary Gant, Monique Jackson (Rhamon Jackson), and Prudence Gant Hill (Edward Hill Sr.). Eula’s legacy also blesses the lives of her sister Pricilla, her sister-in-law Mary Poinsette, 14 adoring grandchildren, and 17 spirited great-grandchildren. A graduate of Chestnut High School in Little River Neck, South Carolina, Eula was an active member of her church and dedicated much of her life to service. Her work with youth and family services and Morris Hall in Lawrenceville, NJ, was a testament to her steadfast commitment to the well-being of others. Eula’s home was a sanctuary of warmth and nourishment. She was known for her culinary creations, where cornbread, field peas with snaps, and a pot of rice turned a simple meal into a comforting feast. Her love for sewing, crocheting, and canning was matched only by her passion for sharing these gifts with those around her. Eula was the prime example of a cheerful giver, always ready with an extra plate for a visitor and a warm smile to welcome them. Her favorite scripture, the 23rd Psalm, and the Lord's Prayer were her guiding lights, offering solace and wisdom throughout her life. These words were her comfort, and she shared them generously, just as she did the shirt off her back for anyone in need. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Mercy Life for their unwavering love and care, and to the Edenbrook staff for their devoted attention during Eula’s final weeks. They were not just caregivers but a second family. Eula Gant’s life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and faith. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. She leaves this world a better place, having enriched it with her kindness and grace. As we say goodbye, we find solace in the memories that will forever warm our hearts and in the assurance that she is now at peace.
