With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Eula Bea Johnson on May 1, 2026. Born on October 11, 1954, in the close-knit community of Mayersville, Mississippi, Eula lived a life marked by love, service, and profound kindness. Her departure, though heavy on our hearts, leaves us with cherished memories and a legacy of warmth and compassion that will endure forever.
Eula was the beloved daughter of the late Olivia and Eliza Maxey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished sisters Rosie Lee Maxey, Rosie Marie Maxey, Hattie Mae Maxey, Beechie Elaine (Lester) Maxey-Short, her dear brothers Harry Maxey, Oliver Maxey, Jr., Ivellah (Marylin) Maxey, as well as four siblings who passed at childbirth, and her special loved one, JW Sutton.
Eula's journey was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Johnny Johnson, and leaves behind her treasured daughters Aretha Johnson, Theresa Johnson, and Rosie Lee Johnson, as well as her beloved sons Johnny (Twanna) Johnson, Jr., and Jerry Johnson, Sr. Her siblings Ella Mae Maxey, Tony (Evelyn) Maxey, Robert (Corrine) Maxey, and Gloria Maxey also mourn her passing.
Eula's legacy is carried forward by her 14 adoring grandchildren: Ashley (Michael) Harris, Jessica Johnson, Camara Johnson, Desmond Washington, Destiny Washington, S Johnson, Nyia Johnson, Sh'Cayla Coulter, Kenny (Keshonda) Griffin, Ry'Kese Johnson, Jimmie Watson, Jr., Jerry Johnson, Jr., Jerkaveon Johnson, and J Johnson, as well as her seven great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Her circle of love extended to cherished friends, including MJ Criss and Sally, who stood by her side through thick and thin.
A proud graduate of Anguilla High School, Eula dedicated many years of her life to Sanderson Farms, where she not only excelled professionally but also built lifelong friendships. Her commitment to community and faith was evident in her active membership and service as an usher at Rosehill M.B. Church, as well as her former role at Union Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership of RC Addison.
Eula's presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her culinary skills were legendary, and when she cooked, she infused each dish with love and care, making everyone feel welcome and at home. She had a zest for life and a passion for traveling, always seeking joy in adventure. Above all, Eula was an extraordinary mother and grandmother, wholly devoted to her family.
Her home was a haven of warmth and laughter, where anyone in need could find solace. Eula's ability to make others feel cherished and her readiness to lend a helping hand were unmatched. She possessed a rare gift for connecting with people, leaving an indelible mark on every soul she encountered.
A celebration of Eula's remarkable life will take place at 11:00 AM on May 16, 2026, at Rosehill M.B. Church, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the profound love she shared with all.
Though we grieve her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Eula's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and unwavering faith, and her legacy will inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Eula, knowing that you were deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure.
