With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Eugenia Botts Shipes on September 21, 2026. Eugenia was born on February 5, 1956, in Greenwood, South Carolina, to Eugenia and Irene Hastings. She left this world peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, after bravely battling cancer. Eugenia was a woman of remarkable strength, unwavering love, and profound compassion. She was predeceased by her cherished parents, Eugenia and Irene Hastings, as well as her two dear brothers, Jimmy Hastings and Tommy Botts. Her absence will be deeply felt by those who survive her, including her devoted children, Travis Shipes, Chris Shipes and his wife Hillary, and Michael Ross. She was a loving grandmother to seven beautiful grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness and warmth will continue to live on through them. Eugenia's life was enriched by her love for family, her passion for cooking, and her appreciation for music. These interests brought joy not only to her own life but to the lives of all who had the fortune to know her. She had a natural talent for bringing people together, whether it was through a home-cooked meal or a shared melody. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy, a beacon of light for all who knew her. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Eugenia is survived by her three loving sisters and two brothers, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she, in turn, was theirs. A service to honor and celebrate Eugenia's remarkable life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Shade Tree Revival Church, located at 400 Cannon Rd, Waterloo, SC 29384. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Eugenia are warmly invited to attend and pay tribute to her enduring spirit. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Eugenia. This gesture reflects her generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping others. Eugenia Botts Shipes was a woman of extraordinary grace and love. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew her. As we remember her life, let us also celebrate the love, laughter, and light she brought into our lives.
