Eugene Scott

Eugene Scott, a cherished husband, devoted father, loyal friend, and beloved community member, was born on March 19, 1968, in Westland, Michigan. Eugene transitioned peacefully on August 8, 2026, after fighting the fight of a warrior. Gene was the beloved son of the late Clara Scott and James Jones. He was predeceased by his mother, Clara Marshall; father, John Jones; and siblings, Leo Scott and William Taylor. His legacy of love and laughter is carried on by his devoted wife of seven years, Pamela, and his children, Marcus Hamel, and stepchildren Sharhonda, Allen, Cassandra, and Jasmine. Eugene was a proud grandfather to Tearra, Teanna, Tae-Jaun, Ariyah, Ava, Dominque, and Davion, and a cherished brother to Martha, Odessa (fondly referred to as Dessa by Gene), John Kas (who shares his life with Margie), and Leon. He also leaves behind nephews Jamar, Jawan, and Jarvis, whom he helped raise, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews. Eugene and Pamela united in marriage on June 8, 2019, in Taylor, Michigan. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories made through travel and shared experiences. In 1986, Gene proudly graduated from Ecorse High School, setting the foundation for his career as a Connector Bus Driver for Smart Transportation. For over 15 years, he dedicated his time to serving the public, retiring in 2023. His commitment to his work and the community was unwavering. Gene's zest for life was evident in his many passions. A true sports enthusiast, his heart belonged to basketball, earning him the title "The Legend of Shooting Jumpers." Whether at Rouge High School or Ecorse High School games, Gene was always present, supporting and celebrating the sport he loved. Gene's interests extended beyond the basketball court. He found immense joy in high school and college marching band competitions, and his love for a good beat was well-known. The excitement of air shows at Willow Run and the spectacle of fireworks brought him childlike joy. Game nights filled with laughter were a staple in his home, and he cherished every moment spent in the company of his family. Conversations with his lifelong friends, often centered around sports, were another source of joy for Gene. His infectious laughter and genuine care for those around him will be dearly missed. Eugene Scott leaves behind a legacy of love, family, sports, music, and laughter. His friends and family will forever hold the memories of his vibrant spirit close to their hearts. Though he may no longer be with us physically, Gene's spirit will live on through the family he cherished, the people he touched, and the passions that brought him joy. Rest peacefully, Gene. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gene's life on August 21, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at Clora Funeral Home, located at 1789 Coolidge Hwy, River Rouge, MI 48218.
