Born on March 8, 1958, Eugene was the treasured son of the late Dolores and Raymond Horne. His life was a tapestry of rich experiences, woven with love, laughter, and dedication to those he held dear.
Eugene spent two decades as a skilled welder, a career he took great pride in, crafting not just materials but a life filled with purpose and hard work. Beyond his professional life, Eugene was a man of diverse passions. He found joy and camaraderie in coaching football, a testament to his belief in teamwork and nurturing young talent. His love for the thrill of horse racing brought excitement and shared joy with friends and family alike. Eugene also had a knack for fixing old cars, a hobby that not only showcased his meticulous skill but also his appreciation for history and craftsmanship.
He was a beloved father and grandfather, survived by his children Shema Horne, Eugene Ray Junior, Terrence Woodham, and Sherell Mayfield. His legacy continues through his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will remember him as a gentle guide and an inspiring presence in their lives.
Eugene's life was marked by deep bonds with his siblings and extended family. He is mourned by his brother Calvin Horne, his sister Faye May Horne, and a host of nieces and nephews: Aria Horne, Charmaine Warham, Keva Horne, Calvin Junior Horne, Eris Horne, Brigkel Horne, and Myra Johnson. His dear friends, Laura Thomas and Alan Playsong, were constants in his life, sharing in his joys and standing by him in times of need.
In addition to his parents, Eugene is predeceased by his brother Calvin Horne and sister Faye Horne, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms in the afterlife.
Eugene's family wishes to honor his memory in a private ceremony, reflecting the personal and profound impact he had on their lives.
