Eugene L Scott
January 9, 1959 — March 15, 2026
It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Eugene L Scott, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Eugene peacefully departed this world on March 15, 2026, at the age of 67, surrounded by the comfort and love of his family.
Eugene was born on January 9, 1959, in Queens, New York, to the late Eugene Scott Sr and Helen Scott. From a young age, Eugene exhibited a zest for life and an infectious sense of humor that would become his hallmark. He was a beacon of joy who had the innate ability to bring smiles to the faces of everyone he met, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those around him.
In 1984, Eugene married Abigail Scott in Brooklyn, New York, embarking on a journey filled with love, commitment, and shared dreams. Together, they built a beautiful family, welcoming their cherished children: Nicholas Scott, Joshua Scott, Briana Scott, Jessica Williams, and Shya Jones. Eugene and Abigail's union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, enriched by their shared values and unshakeable devotion to one another.
Eugene was a man of many talents and passions. A skilled craftsman, he took great pride in building furniture for his family, ensuring every piece was crafted with love and care to be cherished for generations. He was also known for his culinary skills, often preparing meals that nourished both the body and the soul, while hosting lively movie nights that became treasured family traditions.
For more than 15 years, Eugene was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church, where he nurtured his faith and actively participated in services and community activities. His commitment to his faith was unwavering, and he found joy in serving others and sharing his light with the community.
Eugene's legacy is further carried on by his six grandchildren—Lavail Scott, Micah Scott, Tamia Scott, Anya Jones, Leslie Ashburn, and Shantel Jackson—as well as his great-granddaughter, Alya Moore. He delighted in his role as a grandfather, imparting wisdom, humor, and love to the younger generations, creating bonds that will endure long after his passing.
Though Eugene is predeceased by his beloved mother, Helen Scott, his spirit and memory live on in the hearts of those who survive him, especially his devoted wife, Abigail, his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. His family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all who have extended love, support, and comfort during this difficult time. Your kindness and presence have been a source of solace and strength.
In keeping with Eugene's wishes, a private funeral service will be held to honor his life. As we bid farewell to Eugene, we celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and the lasting impact of his laughter, love, and kindness. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and fondness.
