July 7, 1941 — May 20, 2026

Eugene "Gene" Fowler, a beloved husband, devoted father, cherished brother, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on July 7, 1941, in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Gene was the cherished son of Arthur and Ethel Fowler and grew up in a home filled with laughter and love alongside his siblings Arthur Leo III, Richard Allen, Catherine, Alice, and Francis. In his formative years, Gene developed a deep passion for sports, a love that would remain a constant throughout his life. He was an unwavering fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Gene's enthusiasm for the Giants was shared with his brother Arthur, as they spent many Sunday afternoons together, season tickets in hand, cheering on their team with fervor. His love for the Yankees was equally profound; Gene rarely missed a game and found great joy in listening to John Sterling narrate the highs and lows of each season on the radio. Beyond his love of sports, Gene was a man of service, dedicating his time to helping others in need. His compassionate nature led him to spend countless hours driving patients to medical appointments, offering not only transportation but also companionship and empathy to those who needed it most. Gene was a voracious reader, particularly of newspapers, always eager to stay informed and engage in thoughtful discussions about current events. His intellectual curiosity and love of learning were traits that he generously shared with his family and friends. Gene's legacy is carried forward by his loving wife Joyce, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He is survived by his son Eugene Jr. and his wife Dawn of Jackson, NJ, and his stepdaughter Cindy Misdea and her husband Mike, now residing in Florida. Gene took immense pride in his step-grandchildren, Jon and Chris, who brought additional joy and laughter into his life. His sister Alice Scannell of Mays Landing, NJ, and brother Francis and wife Angela of Iselin, NJ, remain to cherish his memory, along with nine devoted nephews and nieces who each held a special place in Gene's heart. Though preceded in death by his parents and siblings Arthur Leo III, Richard Allen, and Catherine, Gene's spirit and kindness live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Gene's life, allowing his family and closest friends to gather in a setting of intimate reflection and remembrance. In celebrating Gene's life, we remember a man whose warmth, generosity, and passion for life touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, family, and friendship is a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished.
