August 7, 1959 — April 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eugene Gaylord Scott, a cherished father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend, who left this world on April 27, 2026, at the age of 66. Eugene's journey began on August 7, 1959, in Tampa, Florida, where he was born to Mary Louise Scott-Hunter and Eugene Tamaladge Scott. He is now reunited in spirit with his beloved parents, who predeceased him. Eugene was a loving father to his son, Jeremiah Grandy, and a proud grandfather to his three grandchildren: Zendaya, Malani, and Reza, who were the lights of his life. His legacy of warmth and kindness also lives on in his sibling Rodney Scott and other brothers and sisters in Georgia, as well as his nephew Shephen Scotteddy, niece Aspen Beckwith, great-nieces Khalani and Khalia Scotteddy, and great-nephew Shephen Scotteddy Jr. Eugene was predeceased by his sister Judy Beckwith, with whom he shared a special bond, working side by side at Agnews Development Center in Santa Clara, California, in 1982. A proud graduate of Tennyson High School, class of 1977, Eugene embarked on a rewarding career as a Senior Psychiatric Technician at Agnews Development Center. His dedication to helping others was evident in his role, as he worked tirelessly alongside his sister Judy. Later, he served as a Security Officer for a decade, always carrying out his duties with integrity and dedication. Eugene found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was often seen at San Gregorio State Beach in California, soaking in the beauty of the ocean. A lover of music, he spent countless hours driving along the coast, jamming to the timeless tunes of Earth, Wind, and Fire and other old-school classics. Eugene had a voracious appetite for reading, often lost in the pages of a good book, and he cherished moments of solitude, where he could reflect and recharge. Those who knew Eugene will remember him for his boundless generosity and his ability to bring laughter and seriousness in equal measure. He had a keen intellect and a heart full of love for his family and friends. Eugene was a beacon of support for many, always ready to assist anyone in need, embodying the true essence of kindness. In accordance with Eugene's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences. In this time of remembrance, they share a special message: "We all will deeply miss you! And we love you." As we bid farewell to Eugene, we hold dear the memories of a life well-lived and a spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, forever in our hearts.
