November 14, 1942 — December 17, 2022

It is with heavy hearts but fond memories that we announce the passing of Ethel Edwardine Lonelodge, a beloved matriarch and spirited soul, who departed this world on December 17, 2022, at the age of 80. Ethel passed peacefully at home in the comforting embrace of three generations of her family, a testament to the deep bonds she nurtured throughout her life. Born on November 14, 1942, in Concho, Oklahoma, Ethel was a daughter of Eddie E. and Dorothy Lonelodge. She was shaped by the warmth and resilience of her upbringing, characteristics that she carried with her throughout her life. She was predeceased by her loving parents, her brothers Charles and Wayne Lonelodge, her husband Bill Rodrick, her son Doyle Lonelodge Sr., and her cherished friend Wilma Lockner, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Ethel married the love of her life, Billy Rodrick, on June 19, 1972, in Wheeler, Texas. Their union spanned five decades, marked by a deep and abiding love that weathered the seasons of life together. They shared 40 years of marriage, filled with shared dreams and cherished memories. Her professional life was as vibrant as her personality. Ethel worked several years as a bingo coordinator—a role perfectly suited to her lively spirit and love for the game. In her later years, she embraced the thrill of being a professional gambler, often embarking on nightly adventures with her "partner in crime," Wilma Lockner. Together, they became well-known fixtures at 240 Bingo Hall and Dob & Win in Oklahoma City, where Ethel's no-nonsense attitude and sharp wit made her a beloved presence, especially to Cookie, a floor worker she was particularly fond of. Ethel was a woman of remarkable strength and character, known for her unwavering forthrightness and courage. She was never afraid to speak her mind and stood her ground with an integrity that inspired those around her, especially the women in her family, to be bold and fearless. Her legacy lives on through her surviving family: her dear friend Ricky Pratt, her daughter Trenee (Errol) Murray, her sister Loretta Dale, and several nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly. She was a grandmother to ten grandchildren and a great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. In accordance with her wishes, Ethel was cremated, and no formal funeral service was held. She wanted it known that she did not wish for anyone to sit around in sorrow for her passing. Instead, she would have preferred that we all celebrate the life she lived with the same vibrant spirit she always embodied. Ethel Edwardine Lonelodge will be remembered not only for the joy she brought into the lives of those who knew her but also for the indomitable spirit she left behind. Her family and friends will forever carry her memory in their hearts, honoring her by living with the same passion and courage that defined her remarkable life.
