Today, we gather with heavy hearts, yet with Christian hope, to celebrate the life and bid farewell to our beloved Esther Shisia Matendechere, who was born on 29th November 2007 and passed away on 8th June 2026.
Esther was the youngest child of Peter Zebedee and Peledina Ayuma. She was born into a family of twelve children alongside her siblings: Moses, Michael, Ruth, Rael, Richard, Mercellah, Nelson, Grace, Truphena, Tesera, and Eunice. She was a loving daughter, a caring sister, and a source of joy to her family. Her kindness, humility, and respect for others made her dearly loved by all who knew her.
Esther began her primary education at Emalindi Primary School, where she sat for her KCPE examination in 2022. In 2023, she joined Eshibinga K Senior School, where she continued her secondary education until her untimely passing while in Form Four. She was hardworking, determined, and full of dreams and aspirations for a bright future.
Spiritually, Esther accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized on 29th December 2024. She became a devoted member of Enanga Pentecostal Assembly, faithfully attending church services and actively participating in church activities. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life and gave her strength and hope.
For most of her life, Esther enjoyed good health. However, at the beginning of 2026, while at school, she became seriously ill. She was first admitted to Khwisero Hospital and was later referred to Butere Level 4 Hospital, where she was diagnosed with severe anaemia. After receiving treatment, she was discharged after one week.
As her condition worsened, she was admitted to Yala Hospital, where she received two units of blood and remained hospitalized for two weeks before being discharged. Unfortunately, her health continued to deteriorate, leading to her transfer to Kakamega General Hospital, where she received four units of blood and one unit of platelets. Due to the severity of her condition, she was referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for specialized care. Sadly, she passed away upon ar
