In Loving Memory

Esther Dyson
March 28, 1951 — April 8, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Esther Dyson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this life on April 8, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 28, 1951, in West Point, Mississippi, Esther graced this world with her vibrant spirit, radiating warmth and love to all who knew her.
Esther was the cherished daughter of Robert Dyson and Rose Gibson, both of whom predeceased her. Her father, Robert, passed away in 2004 due to heart disease, and her mother, Rose, succumbed to diabetes. Despite the profound loss of her parents, Esther embodied resilience and strength, carrying forward their legacy of love and kindness.
Esther was united in marriage to the love of her life, Calvito Hogan, with whom she shared laughter, joy, and a deep, abiding love. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories and unwavering devotion.
A dedicated and compassionate nurse, Esther devoted 22 years of her life to caring for others, having pursued her calling straight out of high school. Her gentle touch and kind words brought comfort and healing to countless patients, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of being under her care.
Esther was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—cooking delicious meals, dancing with abandon, singing with joy, and expressing herself through painting and drawing. Yet, her greatest fulfillment came from being a mother to her son, James her daughter Ratchell and last born Marcus, and a doting grandmother to Marlon and Morgan. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on through them.
Esther’s sweet nature, kind heart, and infectious smile made her a beacon of light in the lives of those around her. She had a remarkable ability to know just what to say to lift spirits and bring comfort. Her sense of humor and big personality ensured that there was never a dull moment in her presence, and her loving nature will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
Esther also leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Caprice; her grandchildren, Keshawn, Kiyara, Marlon, and Morgan; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service to honor Esther’s life will be held on April 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 10052 Payne Field Rd., West Point, MS 39773. Family, friends, and all whose lives Esther touched are invited to join in celebrating her remarkable life and legacy.
In this time of sorrow, the family of Esther Dyson wishes to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown love, support, and kindness. Your prayers, comforting words, visits, calls, and thoughtful gestures have meant more to us than words can express. We are especially thankful to those who have helped honor Esther’s life and legacy. Your support has been a reminder of the profound impact she had on so many lives.
