In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Estelle M. Johnson, a beacon of grace and kindness, who passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on September 21, 1939, in the serene town of Callaway, Virginia, Estelle was the cherished daughter of the late J.W. and Alice Carter. Her life was a testament to love, family, and unwavering faith.
Estelle was predeceased by her beloved parents and her devoted husband, Elworth Johnson. Together, Estelle and Elworth shared a life filled with joy, laughter, and an unbreakable bond that served as an inspiration to all who knew them. Their love story remains a lasting legacy for their family.
A proud graduate of the Franklin County Public School System, Estelle was a dedicated worker who brought her warmth and diligence to her roles at Ben Franklin and Leggetts. Her career was marked by a commitment to excellence and an empathetic connection with everyone she met.
Estelle was a lifelong member of the Antioch Missionary Church, where her faith blossomed and her spirit of service shone brightly. Her involvement in the church was a cornerstone of her life, and she was known for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support to her church family.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her devoted daughter, Mary Jane (Ray) Brennan, and her treasured grandchildren, Caroline Marie, Angelica Raye Brennan, Ramon A. Brennan, and Aman R. Boston. Estelle's legacy continues through her sister, Maxine S. Wade, and her special niece and caregiver, Petula (James) Pannell. She will be dearly missed by Ricky L. Wade of Rocky Mount, Alicia (Jerry) Larry of Cibolo, Texas, Waylon Wade, Cecelia (Ray) Keys, and Willie Faye Wade of Rocky Mount, as well as her special great-niece, Ashley L. Wade, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Carilion Home Health and Carilion Hospice, especially Sabrina, Hannah, and Taylor, for their compassionate care and support during Estelle’s final days.
A celebration of Estelle's life will be held on April 25, 2026, at Antioch Baptist Missionary Church, located at 400 Ruritan Road. Services will commence at 12:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor the beautiful life she lived and the joy she brought to those around her.
Estelle's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched the hearts of many, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were fortunate to know her. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and her tireless dedication to her faith. The world is a little dimmer without her light, but her love will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved.
