In Loving Memory

ESTELLE ANDERSON
May 8, 1956 — October 30, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we announce the peaceful passing of Estelle Anderson, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, on October 30, 2026. Born on May 8, 1956, in Lumberton, North Carolina, Estelle lived a life full of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Estelle was the beloved daughter of Glodine Jameson and James Anderson, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Sterling Anderson Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful marriage beginning on July 1, 1970, and her cherished sister, Annette Rogers. The Andersons began their family journey in Lumberton before making their home in New York City in 1971, where they raised their three children: Sterling Anderson Jr., Kaligh Anderson, and Danni Anderson.
Estelle's educational pursuits led her to John Jay College in New York City, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Services and Community Justice. With a career spanning over two decades, she dedicated 22 years to the Department of Children Services in NYC, followed by continued service as a Case Manager Supervisor at the Department of Human Services in North Carolina until her retirement in 2021.
A respected member of Eastwood Baptist Church, Estelle devoted her time to volunteering and enriching the lives of those around her. Her love for fishing, gardening, dancing, and cooking was matched only by her joy in spending time with her family. Estelle's home was a sanctuary of warmth, known for her open-door policy, loving smile, and renowned culinary talents.
Her legacy lives on through her children, her 14 grandchildren, and her two great-grandchildren, each of whom carry a piece of her heart and spirit. Estelle's family expresses deep appreciation for the outpouring of generosity and support received during this time of loss. They reflect on her life as a true blessing and take comfort in knowing she has left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
A service to celebrate Estelle's life will be held on November 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, located at 504 W 2nd Street, Lumberton, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Estelle's memory.
Estelle Anderson will be missed immensely, but her spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
