It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Estela Mata Martinez, who departed this world on August 25, 2026, in the serenity of her garden in Canyon Lake, Texas, surrounded by the beauty she so cherished. Born on September 17, 1955, in Eagle Pass, Texas, Estela lived a life full of love, dedication, and quiet strength.
Estela was the beloved daughter of the late Juan and Virginia Mata and was predeceased by her cherished parents. She is survived by her devoted husband, Gudelio Martinez, whom she married on April 22, 1995. Their union was a testament to true love and partnership, and together they shared a journey that spanned over three decades.
Estela was a proud graduate of Eagle Pass High School and spent her early life in Eagle Pass, enjoying the daily visits to her mother—a tradition that showcased her deep family bonds. In 2006, Estela and Gudelio relocated to Georgetown, where she worked as a teacher’s aide at Anne Purl Elementary. Her dedication to nurturing young minds was evident throughout her career until her retirement in 2020. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Estela leaves behind her loving children, Erika Ramirez Vielma and Heather Valdez; her treasured grandchildren, RJ and Amelie Vielma, and Gael and Ari Valdez; and her dear son-in-law, Carlos Valdez. She is also survived by her siblings, Ramon Mata, Soyla Lares, Rosa Mercado, Francisco Mata, and Maggie Duran, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends who will continue to honor her legacy.
