Erskine Bell

September 12, 1945 — October 19, 2026

Erskine Bell, a beacon of love and guidance, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on September 12, 1945, in Indola, Mississippi, Erskine was the cherished son of Bertha Mills-Carter and Eddie Phillips and was lovingly raised by his grandmother, Florence Dotson, who instilled in him strong Christian values that he held dear throughout his life. Erskine's early years were filled with music and adventure as he traveled and sang with the band The Exquisities. His remarkable journey continued when he joined the Chrysler Corporation in 1969, where he dedicated 40 years, ultimately becoming a respected Foreman. Known for his dedication and hard work, Erskine's influence extended beyond the workplace as he mentored many, sharing his wisdom and time management skills with those around him. A devoted family man, Erskine was the proud father of five children: Kim, Wanda, Pamala, and Demetrius. His heart and home were always open to his family, and he cherished the time spent traveling with his children, grandchildren, and nephews on memorable camping trips and cruises. Among his favorite pastimes were playing pool and organizing family adventures, where his infectious enthusiasm and love for life shone brightly. Erskine's faith was a cornerstone of his life. As an active member of Trinity Church, he served faithfully on the Deacon Board and in the choir, where his voice and spirit uplifted many. His legacy of faith, love, and mentorship continues through his surviving children, Kim, Wanda, Pam (Jason), and Demetrius (LaSara); his eight grandchildren, Alexander Bowman, Amber Abdullah, Erica (Chris), Vanessa (Chris), Amirra, Israel, Jason Jr., and Javen; and his ten great-grandchildren, Kairo Bryant, Kennedy, Jason III, Isabella, and London. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Louise, brothers Ronnie Carter, Larry (Pee Wee) Philips, George, and his beloved son, Erskine Bell Jr., Erskine now joins them in eternal peace. A celebration of Erskine's life will be held at Haley's Funeral and Cremation, located at 24525 Northwestern Hwy, on October 31, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
