Ernest Parker Jr., a beloved member of the Atlanta community, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at the Sadie Mays Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born on April 1, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia, Ernest was the cherished son of Earnest and Janie Mae Parker. He was a man who lived his life with humor, warmth, and a dedication to his family and community. Ernest spent his early years in Atlanta, a city he loved dearly. His career began at Scripto Inc., where he worked diligently before moving on to Southwest Dekalb High School. There, he found his true calling as a mentor and role model for countless young minds, eventually retiring after years of dedicated service. Known for his quick wit and an unexpected sense of humor that could brighten any room, Ernest had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met. His laughter and good cheer were as much a part of him as his gentle, kind-hearted nature. In his later years, he found joy in playing Dominoes, a pastime that brought friends and family together around the table. Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Earnest and Janie Mae Parker, and his dear daughter, Sandra Willis. He leaves behind his loving brother, Franklin Parker, and a host of nieces, nephews, and granddaughters. He was a proud grandfather to two grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. Ernest's family was the center of his universe, and he delighted in the time spent with them, sharing stories and laughter. A celebration of Ernest's life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 12:00 PM at First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, located at 816 Maynard Terrace SE, Atlanta, Georgia 30316.
