Ernest “Lilman” Hayes, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2026, at the age of 44. Born on March 1, 1982, Ernest was the cherished son of the late Patricia Taylor and Ernest Hayes. He is now reunited with them, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Brothers Charles, Donte, & Stephan Taylor. Sisters Michelle & Sharee Taylor, Ernestine Jennings.
Aunts Linda Emerson, Shirley Crawford, Stella Valentine, and Sally Garner. Uncle Charles Garner. Host of nieces and nephews. Host of cousins.
Ernest was a devoted father to his six children: Ernest III, Santino, E’Lissa, Emani, Elijah, and Eniyah Hayes. He was also the proud grandfather to his two granddaughters, Sa’Yana and Icelynn. His family was the center of his world, and he never missed an opportunity to show them how much they were loved.
Ernest pursued his education in the local schools of Contra Costa County , where he made many lifelong friends. He was a hard worker and took great pride in operating his own car detailing business, where his attention to detail and dedication to his craft were evident in every vehicle he transformed.
Beyond his professional life, Ernest was a man of many passions. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing, enjoying music, and relishing good food. His laughter was contagious, and he was known for his warm, generous spirit and a smile that could light up any room. Ernest had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke around, bringing joy to everyone who crossed his path.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Sunset View community and friends for their unwavering support during this difficult time.
In keeping with Ernest’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Ernest’s memory may do so by contributing to a charity of their choice.
Ernest “Lilman” Hayes will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of his loved ones. May he rest in peace.
