Ernest passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 86, due to a heart condition, surrounded by the love of his family and the warmth of cherished memories. Born on May 29, 1939, in Pennsylvania, Ernest was a beacon of strength and wisdom throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, whose memory he held close to his heart. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 55 years, Thanh Thuy, and his treasured daughter, Kay Lynn, aged 19, who were the center of his world and the source of his greatest joy. Ernest answered the call of duty early in life, serving in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1955 to 1958. This experience instilled in him a sense of discipline and self-reliance that would guide him throughout his life. His career was marked by years of dedicated service in traffic control for the City of Alexandria, Virginia, where he worked meticulously for two decades until his retirement in 2012. Ernest was respected by his colleagues for his incisive mind and scrupulous attention to detail. A man of deep faith, Ernest was an active member of his local Baptist Church, where he found community and contentment. His passion for automotive technology, especially US-made SUVs, was well known, and he spent countless hours indulging in this interest, often sharing his knowledge with friends and family alike. Ernest will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but for his personal qualities that touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a man of assertion and organization, whose meticulous nature and conscientious spirit were evident in every endeavor he undertook. His protective and anticipative nature made him a pillar of support for his family, while his faithfulness and disciplined approach to life earned him the respect and admiration of all who crossed his path. A funeral service to honor Ernest’s remarkable life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Everly Funeral Home, located at 6161 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA 22044. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much to those around him. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Innova Hospital for the compassionate care provided to Ernest over the years, as well as to the Fairfax emergency services for their dedicated assistance during several critical moments. Their support and professionalism have been deeply appreciated during this difficult time.
