Born on November 2, 1954, in Wrightsville, Georgia, Ernest was the cherished son of the late B.C. and Minnie Cannon. He was raised in a family that instilled in him the values of hard work, kindness, and community service—principles that guided him throughout his life. Ernest was a man of remarkable integrity and warmth, known for his unwavering commitment to his family and friends. He was a devoted father to his children: Kenyatta Gamble, Shilonda and her husband Brandon Brown, Shaynika Tillman, Drucilla Tillman, Courtney Tillman, and Tiffany Jones. His love and wisdom were a guiding light for them, and his legacy will continue to inspire them in the years to come. As a grandfather to twelve grandchildren and great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren, Ernest's joy was found in the laughter and dreams of the younger generations. He treasured every moment spent with them, always eager to share stories, wisdom, and a loving embrace. Ernest's life was also enriched by the deep bonds he shared with his close friends, Connie Horne, Wallace Taylor, and Charles Hall. Together, they shared countless adventures and supported one another through life's challenges and triumphs. A service to celebrate Ernest's life will be held on August 21, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Wheeler's Funeral Home, located at 321 E McCarty St. Family, friends, and all who knew him are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for a life well-lived.
