In loving memory of Erma Lee Otts Dixon, a caring daughter, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Erma peacefully departed this world on May 30, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by the love of her family and the compassionate care of her son David, along with Hospice and dedicated caretakers. Her passing marks the closing of a life full of love for her family and will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind. Born on February 8, 1935, in the Prospects Community where she spent her childhood with her mother, Doris Mae Nolen Otts, and her Papa JD Nolen, as her father, Ermon Otts passed away during her infancy. She later moved to Sulligent, Alabama where she graduated from Sulligent High School in 1952, planting the roots of a community she would cherish for decades. Erma married Henry Dixon Jr. on September 14, 1957. Together, they owned and operated the Sulligent Pharmacy for 22 years. Their commitment to each other and to the community they served was evident in the many lives they touched. After selling the pharmacy, Erma enjoyed working as a Student Aide to a disabled child and later as a clerk at Sulligent Elementary School. Her career continued at DHS in Vernon, where her kindness and patience were a source of support for many. In her later years, she devoted herself to the care of others, working as a caretaker for a disabled patient. Erma was a strong and stoic woman who rarely complained, she remained calm and easy-going throughout her declining health. She will be remembered by her friends and family as kind and friendly lady with a good sense of humor. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and crafting. She made many outfits for her children when they were young. Later in life when her Children were grown, she expressed in her love of dancing, sharing many fun evenings out with some her lady friends. Erma is lovingly remembered by her children, Charlotte (Lamar) Gilliland, Angela (Kelly) Lambert, David Dixon, and Jeane (Michael) Dodd, as well as her grandchildren, Will Shadden, Abbie Shadden, Brewer (Alyssa) Gilliland, Tanner (Courtney) Gilliland, Nolen Dodd, and Eli Dodd. Her great-grandchildren, Adelyna Shadden, Vera Gilliland, and Sutton Gilliland. She is reunited in peace with her parents, Ermon and Doris Mae Nolen Otts, and her devoted husband, Henry Dixon Jr. A service to celebrate Erma's life will be held at Otts Funeral Home, located at 4255 Hwy 278, Sulligent, Alabama 35586. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice of North Alabama, care of BrightSpring Hospice Foundation at 805 N. Whittington Parkway, Louisville, KY 40222. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of North Alabama, Beaverton Freewill Baptist Church, and their dear friend Tracy Taylor for their support and kindness during this time.
