It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend, Ericka Rushin, who left this world unexpectedly on April 7, 2026, at the tender age of 14. Born on August 18, 2011, in Akron, Ohio, Ericka brought immeasurable joy and laughter into the lives of everyone she encountered. Ericka was a bright and spirited young girl who was a junior in high school, where she actively pursued her love for sports and academics. Her dedication to basketball, gymnastics, and volleyball was evident through the numerous awards she proudly earned. Whether on the court or in the gym, Ericka's enthusiasm and team spirit were contagious, inspiring all those around her. Known for her infectious sense of humor and her ability to bring a smile to anyone's face, Ericka was truly a light in the lives of her family and friends. She had a natural talent for making others laugh and a heart full of kindness that touched everyone she met. Her playful nature and jokester personality made her a cherished companion, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ericka is survived by her loving parents, Alicia Boom, and Mickie & Laquita Rushin, who cherished every moment with their precious daughter. She is also remembered fondly by her extended family and friends, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Ericka was predeceased by her grandmother, Mary Rushin, and her grandfather, Edgar Rushin, with whom we take comfort in knowing she is now reunited. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Ericka's life and legacy. In lieu of a public gathering, her family kindly requests that those wishing to express their condolences send flowers and cards to Laquita and Mickie Rushin, as a gesture of love and support during this difficult time. Though Ericka's time with us was far too short, the love and laughter she shared will echo in our hearts forever. We find solace in the memories we created together and the joy she brought into our lives. As we bid farewell to our beloved Ericka, we hold onto the light she shone, remembering her as the vibrant, loving, and remarkable young woman she was. Rest in peace, dear Ericka. You will be missed beyond measure and loved for all eternity.
