Erick Henry Bjorum

Erick Henry Bjorum, husband, stepfather, counselor, and friend, passed away on July 19, 2026. Born on October 20, 1951, at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida, Erick's life was a complicated journey of challenges, service, compassion, and faith. Erick was the beloved son of the late Jane Claire Bjorum and Carl Henry Bjorum, and he was predeceased by his brothers Carl Edward "Herky" Bjorum and Bruce Chester Bjorum, as well as his stepmother, Elizabeth Bjorum. He married his beautiful bride Cheryl Ann on October 7, 2020 at Living Word Community Church on Ogontz Street, York. They shared many wonderful years together filled with travel, adventures, service to others along with the highest of peaks and the lowest of valleys. Thank goodness the Lord was with them every step of the way. Erick's family was a source of tremendous pride, heartache, joy and challenges; he leaves behind his stepson Christopher Raby, stepdaughter Heather and her husband Dave O'Brien, stepson Aaron Raby and his partner Susie Jackson, and his sister Christine Stonestreet. He was a cherished uncle to Erick Stonestreet and his son Landon, and to Carly and her husband Brandon, and their children Logan and Kendall. Erick was also a beloved grandfather figure to MyKenzie Ditch and her fiancé Luke Rahilly, Samantha Raby and her partner Gavin, and Isabella Raby. His life was blessed by the support of his NA sponsors, Lawrence F and Steve M. Erick graduated from F. C. Hammond High School in Alexandria, Virginia in June, 1969. Following a brief hiatus for inner growth and development along with some really bad choices, he graduated from York College, York, PA in May 2003. From September, 1994 on, Erick completed thousands of hours of training in addictions and mental health treatment. Erick served his country in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1978, and later. from 1980 to 1990, worked as an expatriate for the Royal Saudi Air Force in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. His early years as an Air Force "brat" took him from Florida to California with several stops along the way. Erick's life was profoundly impacted from 1963 to 1966 when his father was stationed in Izmir, Turkey. His life journey instilled in him a love for adventure, travel and diverse cultures. An active member of the Living Word Community Church since 1996, Erick was a humble servant to his Lord Jesus and his community. He was a proud and grateful member of Narcotics Anonymous from March 23, 1994, learning service as a pathway to recovery. He was a humble descendant of the Saami people from Northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland. His ancestors emigrated south in 1389 to found the small village of Bjorum outside Oslo. Erick found joy in cheering for the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins, attending concerts and plays with Cheryl, or supporting his granddaughter Bella's dance recitals. He was a man of great warmth, known for his quick smile and words of encouragement. Erick sought to emulate his savior, Jesus Christ, as a "Wonderful Counselor," offering space and grace to all he encountered. However, per family tradition, he did not suffer fools gladly. A service to celebrate Erick's life will be held at the LWCC, located at 2530 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion, PA, 17356. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the YORK COUNTY SPCA, reflecting Erick's lifelong commitment to service and compassion. Erick Henry Bjorum's legacy is one of love, service, and unwavering faith. He touched the lives of many, leaving behind a world made better by his presence. Erick's journey on earth has ended, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
