August 12, 2009 — April 7, 2026

It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved Erica Rushin, who left us far too soon on April 7, 2026, at the tender age of 16. Born on August 12, 2009, in Akron, Ohio, Erica was a bright, spirited presence who touched the lives of all who knew her. Erica was the cherished daughter of Alicia (Mark) Willin and Mickie (Laquita) Rushin, who along with her extended family, will hold her memory close in their hearts forever. Though her time with us was brief, she made an indelible impact on her family and community. Erica was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Betty and Edgar Rushin, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. A dedicated student at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s, Erica was just starting to explore the world and her place within it. As a junior, she exemplified academic excellence, consistently earning a place on the honor roll throughout her high school career. Her intelligence and dedication were matched by her involvement in several extracurricular activities, including her membership in the 4-H Club, Chess Club, and the Honor Society. Erica's athletic prowess was evident in her love for sports. She was an enthusiastic participant in basketball, volleyball, and track—each a testament to her determination and team spirit. Beyond her accomplishments, Erica was known for her quiet nature, but those fortunate enough to know her well discovered a girl with a delightful sense of humor and an extraordinary ability to make others smile. Her warmth and kindness resonated deeply with everyone she encountered. Erica had a gentle soul and a compassionate heart that endeared her to friends and family alike. Her life, though cut tragically short, was a beacon of joy and laughter, reminding us all of the beauty in small moments shared together. A service to celebrate Erica’s life will be held on April 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the House of the Lord, located at 1263 Diagonal. Friends, family, and community members are welcome to join us in honoring Erica's memory and the joy she brought into our lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that sentiments of sympathy, in the form of cards or floral arrangements, be sent to Mickie and Laquita Rushin as they navigate this difficult time. Erica’s legacy of love, laughter, and gentle strength will forever be cherished, and she will remain in our hearts as a beloved daughter, friend, and inspiration. May she rest in eternal peace.
