In Loving Memory

Eric Thomas Hewlett
April 29, 1966 — October 21, 2026
Eric Thomas Hewlett, a beloved father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 21, 2026, after valiantly battling a traumatic brain injury. Born on April 29, 1966, in Daly City, CA, Eric's life was a testament to his warmth, humor, and unwavering generosity.
Eric spent his formative years in Emmett, ID, where he graduated from Emmett High School in 1984. His passion for engineering led him to pursue an associate's degree in the field, a path that would define much of his professional life. Over the past 40 years, Eric distinguished himself as a dedicated mechanical engineer, working for several companies, including Petty Engineering, a firm he owned in the early 2000’s. His work on the Fontainebleau project in Las Vegas was a particular source of pride for him, and he was known for spreading his enthusiasm and expertise to all who worked alongside him.
In 1993, Eric married his high school sweetheart, Dawnie Yates, on the 4th of July. Together, they built a life rooted in love and shared dreams, raising their three children—Taylor, Dylan, and Londyn—in Las Vegas. Though their marriage lasted just 22 years, the love and memories they shared left an indelible mark on all who knew them.
Eric was the kind of man whose presence alone could lighten any mood. His sense of humor and infectious laugh were his trademarks, and his accepting nature made everyone feel valued. He was generous to a fault, always giving people the benefit of the doubt, and his kindness was a beacon to those around him.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Eric found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved golfing with his friends, listening to Pink Floyd, and investing time into each NFL and college football season. He was a devoted father to his children and a cherished grandfather to his three grandchildren: Raelyn, Carson, and Sylvana, who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
Eric is survived by his loving parents, Thomas and Karen, his bonus mom, Carol, his children, and grandchildren. He leaves behind his siblings, Lee, Thomas, and Shane, who each held a special place in his heart.
A celebration of Eric's life will be held on November 14, 2026 in Emmett, Idaho. His family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care and support during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Eric's memory to a charity of choice, honoring his generous spirit and love for helping others. Eric Thomas Hewlett will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
