Eric Steven Lawson

January 3, 1980 — May 12, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eric Steven Lawson, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on May 12, 2025, at the age of 45. Eric was born on January 3, 1980, in Elgin, Illinois, to Steven and Helen Lawson. Eric was a beacon of joy and warmth whose presence brought light and laughter to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His vibrant spirit and infectious smile were a testament to his bubbly personality, which he maintained even during challenging times. Eric was a cherished member of the Lawson family and a devoted friend to many. He was predeceased by his father, Steven Lawson, whose memory he held dear. Eric leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Helen Constanza-Lawson, who was a constant source of strength and love. He is also survived by his sisters, Anna Samson (Michael) and Lisa Lawson; his brother, Paul Lawson (Amanda); and his uncle and aunt, Robert and Maria Lawson. Eric was a proud and adored uncle to his nieces, Megan, Delaney, and Raegan, and his nephews, Logan, Matthew, Ethan, and Alexander. Eric had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. He found peace and inspiration in nature, often embarking on hikes that nourished his soul. His love for cartoons like Looney Tunes, Garfield, and Toy Story reflected his playful spirit and eternal youthfulness. A true aficionado of music, Eric had an uncanny ability to recall song details with remarkable precision, sharing his vast knowledge with anyone who would listen. In addition to his love for the outdoors and music, Eric enjoyed the camaraderie of playing cards, a pastime that brought him closer to friends and family. His ability to make others smile, often through his quick wit and genuine kindness, was perhaps his most endearing quality. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Opportunity House and Eric's dear caregiver, Sarah, for their unwavering support and care over the past seven years. Their kindness and dedication provided comfort and companionship to Eric, for which the family will be eternally thankful. A service to honor Eric's life will be held on May 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 270 Division St, Elgin, IL 60120. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Opportunity House, an organization close to Eric's heart. Though Eric's journey on earth has ended, his spirit will endure in the hearts of those he touched. May his memory remind us all to embrace life with laughter, love, and music, just as he did.
