It is with profound sadness and tender memory that we announce the passing of Eric Steven Johnson, beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend. Eric peacefully departed from this world on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40. Born on April 5, 1986, in the charming town of Florence, South Carolina, Eric lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and passions.
Eric was a cherished son to Jimmy (Susan) Johnson of Lane, South Carolina, and Robyn (Robert) Cooper of Andrews, South Carolina. His life was a testament to the strong family values instilled in him by his devoted parents. Eric was a brother and confidant to David Johnson of Lane, South Carolina, with whom he shared countless cherished memories and adventures.
In 2012, Eric married his best friend and the love of his life, Kristina Edwards Johnson. Together, they built a beautiful life over the course of their 14-year marriage, marked by a deep, unwavering love and mutual respect. Their greatest joy came with the birth of their son, Lawton Eric Johnson, now five years old. Eric's greatest pride was being a devoted father, and his legacy of love will forever guide Lawton.
Eric's career as an Individual Contractor for Urban Electric Company was a reflection of his dedication and work ethic. He was known for his reliability, skill, and the integrity with which he approached every task. His colleagues remember him as a bright spirit, always ready with a helping hand and a warm smile.
Beyond his professional life, Eric was a man of many passions. He embraced the great outdoors, finding peace and joy in the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing. Saturdays were reserved for cheering on his beloved South Carolina Gamecocks, a tradition he relished with friends and family. Eric was also a culinary enthusiast, known for his remarkable grilling skills and his love for cooking up delicious meals for those he loved. His home was often filled with the comforting aromas of his culinary creations, accompanied by laughter and stories shared around the dinner table.
Eric leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and warmth that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Kristina, and their son, Lawton; his brother, David; his niece, Curry Edwards; nephews, Marshall Johnson, Emmett Johnson, and Will Edwards; his in-laws, David (Jodie) Edwards of Halls, TN; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eric (Marley) Edwards. Each of these relationships was marked by a unique bond, and Eric cherished every connection deeply.
In honor of Eric's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held with family and close friends. Though the gathering will be intimate, the impact of Eric's life and the love he shared with those around him will resonate far and wide.
As we say goodbye to Eric, we hold tightly to the memories of his laughter, his kindness, and the light he brought into our lives. His spirit will forever remain in our hearts, a guiding star in the night sky, reminding us of the beauty of a life well-lived.
