July 5, 1999 — April 23, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eric Patrick Scesco, who departed from this world on April 23, 2026, at the tender age of 26. Eric was born on July 5, 1999, in Washington, DC, and his life, though brief, was a testament to love, kindness, and quiet strength. Eric was the cherished son of the late Jacqueline and Oscar Scesco, who have greeted him in the eternal embrace of peace, along with his beloved sister, Stacia Gilliard-Mathews, and brother, Robert Scesco. Though we mourn the loss of Eric, his spirit lives on through his surviving siblings, Erykah Scesco, Yazmin Scesco, Roderick Scesco, and Sean Gilliard, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who were touched by his gentle presence. Eric's early years were spent in Maryland and Arizona. He he graduated from Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, VA. He was known for his quiet demeanor and soft-spoken nature, yet his bright and beautiful smile could light up any room. Eric was a devoted brother and friend, always ready with a kind word or gentle gesture, and he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He worked diligently at Cookout as a team leader, where he was respected by his peers for his work ethic and kindness. Eric's true passions, however, lay in his dreams and interests. He harbored a deep desire to join the army, fueled by his love for video games that involved combat and strategy. A self-proclaimed Information Technology nerd, Eric was captivated by the world of superheroes and the Avengers. Engaging with these stories brought him peace and happiness, as he found solace and inspiration in their tales of bravery and resilience. Eric's family and friends will gather to celebrate his life on May 16, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, located at 1601 27th Street, Newport News, VA 23607. This service will be a time to honor and remember a young man whose life, though far too short, was filled with love and gentle strength. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered support during this difficult time. Your calls, cards, and prayers have been a source of comfort and strength. We also wish to express our appreciation to Cooke Bros. Funeral Home for their compassionate service. In remembering Eric, let us celebrate the warmth and light he brought into our lives. Though he has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit remains with us, a guiding light of love and peace.
