Era Bell Inglis

June 5, 1927 — May 15, 2026

In loving memory of Era Bell Inglis, who peacefully passed away on May 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Era, affectionately known as "Granny" to those who cherished her, was a beacon of love, kindness, and strength throughout her 98 years of life. Born on June 5, 1927, in Timpson, Texas, Era was the cherished daughter of Dock and Era Hayes. Her life was a testament to the power of family, love, and dedication. Era was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vincent Inglis Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful life from their marriage on June 30, 1945, in Houston, Texas, until his passing. Together, they built a family and a legacy filled with love and resilience. She was also predeceased by her parents, her son Vincent Inglis Jr., son-in-law Bruce Haines, grandson Kenneth (Kenny) Haines, and daughter-in-law Gloria Moody Inglis. She leaves behind a devoted family who will continue to honor her memory: her daughter Deborah Maness and husband Joel; her grandchildren Stephanie McMillan and husband Rolo, Kim Hoppes and husband Billy, Staci Carroll and husband Scott, and Vincent (Joey) Inglis. Her legacy of love extends to her great-grandchildren—Hunter Carroll and wife Shay, Justin Inglis and wife Agustina, Taylor Martin and husband Carter, Kaitlyn Dodson and husband Lane, Rylie Inglis, Regan Inglis, Case Hoppes and wife Kennedy, Kamryn Inglis—and nine treasured great-great-grandchildren. Era's career was marked by her long and successful tenure with the City of Houston, where her diligence and dedication left a lasting impact. She was a stalwart member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church for over 60 years, where her faith and community spirit were an inspiration to many. Beyond her professional and community contributions, Era found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a profound love for country music and cherished the moments spent camping with her family. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, known for its pristine yard and the irresistible aroma of her homemade pies—a testament to her outstanding baking skills. Era's life was defined by her unwavering love for her family. She gave selflessly, always putting her loved ones first, and her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of her delicious cooking. Her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched the hearts of everyone she met. The family invites friends and loved ones to gather and celebrate Era's remarkable life at a visitation from 12 to 2 PM, prior to the service. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and an unyielding commitment to family—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we celebrate Era's life, we remember her not only for the love she shared and the lives she touched, but for the enduring strength and grace with which she lived every day. Era Bell Inglis will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
