March 19, 1953 — March 3, 2026
Emogene Yvonne Smith, a cherished and nurturing soul, gracefully left this world on March 3, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in the heart of Battle Creek, Michigan, on March 19, 1953, Emogene's journey was one of warmth, love, and an abundance of heartfelt connections.
Daughter of the late Carl and Maxine Farley, Emogene was a beacon of strength and kindness. Her brothers Marvin and sisters Johnny and Katie Farley preceded her in death, but their memories lived on through her stories and laughter. Emogene's family was her pride and joy, and she is survived by her beloved sister Sherry Nunes, alongside Curtis Ezell, and her sister Nelson "Tiny" Lightsey, along with Bill Lightsey. Her legacy continues through her adoring children: son Lawrence Brady and his wife Terri, daughter Robbie Webb with her partner Ben Veach, and daughter Daelynn Thompson, with her partner Rope Slinger.
Emogene's life was blessed with the love of eight grandchildren and the bustling joy of 29 great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of her heart, and she took immense pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
As a licensed practical nurse, Emogene dedicated herself to the care and comfort of others. Her compassion and gentle nature made her a treasured caregiver, and she was deeply respected by her colleagues and patients alike.
Family and friends fondly remember Emogene for her love of cooking. Her home was always filled with the aroma of big dinners and countless desserts, lovingly prepared and shared with anyone who walked through her door. Her hospitality was unmatched; she made everyone feel welcome and cherished with her warm smile and generous spirit.
Emogene had a profound appreciation for the beauty of Native American culture and delighted in collecting Indian memorabilia. Her love for riding horses spoke to her free spirit and joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Although her funeral will be a private ceremony, her family extends their deepest gratitude to all who reached out with love and support during her final days. Special thanks go to At Home Services Dayton TN and Gentiva
(Hospice) for their unwavering care and dedication.
Though Emogene's physical presence may have departed, her spirit and love will forever linger in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her life was a testament to kindness, love, and the enduring bonds of family. May her journey be peaceful, and her memory eternal.
