Born on January 15, 1939, in the heart of Bollinger County, Emma was the beloved daughter of William and Lettie Brands. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Ed, sisters Alma, Irene, Martha, and Ethel, and her dear son, Robert William.
Emma's life was a testament to love, dedication, and compassion. She shared an extraordinary bond with her husband, Ralph, whom she met as a teenager. Their beautiful journey began in high school and culminated in a marriage that spanned 68 wonderful years. Together, they built a loving home and a remarkable family, celebrating the joys and facing the challenges of life hand in hand.
Emma's legacy continues through her surviving family: her devoted husband Ralph; her loving sisters Dorothy and Marie; her children Vanessa, Cheryl, and Keith; her grandchildren Andrew, Stephanie, Hannah, and Nathan; and her great-grandchild Benjamin. Each of them carries forward Emma's spirit of warmth and kindness.
Emma dedicated much of her life to her family and the community. Her work with the family business, ARCO, was marked by dedication and a commitment to building a better life for those around her. Emma was also actively involved in volunteering, offering her time and talents to various causes. She found joy in volunteering at Saint Vincent de Paul, as well as at vacation Bible school. One of her unique contributions was her service of doing hair and nails for nuns, a testament to her gentle and giving nature.
A woman of many talents, Emma had a passion for decorating and making cakes, which she often shared with friends and family during special occasions. Her love for travel revealed her adventurous spirit and curiosity about the world. Emma also cherished her health, often going on walks and inspiring others to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
Emma's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She loved Jesus and lived out her beliefs through acts of kindness and hospitality. Her genuine, warm, and compassionate nature touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Emma's life was a reflection of love—love for her family, her community, and her faith.
