Emma Jean

February 20, 1931 — July 11, 2026

Emma Jean, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully departed this world on July 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on February 20, 1931, in Bay Minette, Alabama, Emma's life was a testament to resilience, love, and joy. Emma dedicated her life to the art of cosmetology, a profession she embraced with passion and skill. From the bustling salons of her early career to owning beloved establishments such as Foxy Lady and Salon Calais, she made a name for herself as a talented and compassionate stylist. Her career spanned decades until her well-earned retirement in 2003 at the age of 72. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Emma was a devoted mother to her surviving sons, Robert J. Eubanks Jr., Paul Eubanks, and Billy Joe Eubanks, and a loving grandmother to many, including Nicole King, Caroline Eubanks, Asa Eubanks, Stacey, Tracey, Tina, and Billy. Her family tree extended further, with great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews who filled her life with boundless joy. Known affectionately as "GiGi," Emma was an avid gardener whose love for plants was matched only by her dedication to preserving her beautiful lawn and gardens. Even into her nineties, she could be seen push-mowing her grass and meticulously trimming edges with scissors. Her passion for bird watching was well-known, and she delighted in outsmarting the squirrels that dared to approach her bird feeders. Emma's heart was as expansive as her gardens. She welcomed every opportunity to tend to the children in her community, often babysitting neighborhood kids and volunteering at vacation Bible school. Among her favorite moments were those spent with her great-grandchildren Brendan, Zach, Emma, and Olivia. Her quick wit and infectious smile brought joy to all who knew her. Emma never missed an opportunity to share a laugh or a dance, often hosting dance parties with her friends and caregivers. Her presence was a light that brightened countless lives. Emma was predeceased by her parents, brothers Wilison, Terry, and Bertrand Duck, her sister-in-law Mildred Duck, her brother-in-law George Massey, her beloved daughter Brenda Eubanks, and her nephew Ray Vaught. She is survived by her sister Nyla Massey, her brother Mack Duck and his wife Faye, her sister-in-law Mary Jo Duck, and numerous extended family members who will continue to cherish her memory. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Crowne Health Care of North Baldwin in Bay Minette, AL, for the compassionate care and support provided to Emma. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Emma's memory may consider a donation to a charity of their choice. Emma Jean's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and kindness. Her legacy will forever be cherished by her family and all those whose lives she touched. May her soul rest in peace, embraced by the eternal garden she so dearly loved.
