Emma Carlile
June 14, 1926 — November 1, 2026
Emma Carlile, a remarkable woman whose zest for life touched all who knew her, passed away on November 1, 2026, at the age of 100. Her vibrant life came to a peaceful close at the Orchards in East Liverpool following a fall at home, marking the end of a century filled with adventure, love, and dedication.
Born on June 14, 1926, to the late James and Diana (Tomerine) Rotuna, Emma's life was a tapestry of rich experiences and profound connections. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jefferey Dunlap, and her brother, James Rotuna. Despite these losses, Emma carried forward, embodying resilience and grace.
Emma was the devoted wife of Virgil Carlile, with whom she shared a life of joy and familial devotion until his passing in 1957. Together, they nurtured a loving family, raising their children Alan Carlile of Lisbon, Gary Carlile of Costa Rica, and Denise (David) Cline of Lisbon. Emma's legacy lives on through her five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were a continual source of pride and joy for her.
Her professional life saw her managing the snack and gift shop at Alliance Hospital, where her warmth and organizational skill left a lasting impression on colleagues and patrons alike. Emma's dedication to her work was matched by her commitment to her community as a cherished member of the Williamsport Chapel in Lisbon, Ohio.
Emma's adventurous spirit was evident in her many hobbies and interests. She held a private pilot's license, drove powder puff stock cars, and even hunted wild boar on horseback. Her competitive nature shone as she roller skated and ice skated, while her love for the water saw her gracefully gliding across lakes on water skis. Emma also shared her passion for dance by teaching country western dance lessons, spreading joy through music and movement.
Her love for life and tireless energy were contagious, inspiring all who had the privilege to know her. Emma's ability to find joy in every moment, and her unwavering love for her family and friends, will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
In honor of Emma's memory, the family kindly suggests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, reflecting her generous spirit and enduring compassion. Emma Carlile will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a beacon of vitality and warmth.
