Emma B. Norton, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on May 11, 2026, surrounded by her cherished family. Born on July 9, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Emma was the daughter of the late Carl and Emma Hamill. She spent her life embodying warmth, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones and community.
Emma found the love of her life in John H. Norton Sr., whom she married on a beautiful spring day, May 19, 1974. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to serving others through their family business, Norton Funeral Home. Emma's compassionate nature and gentle spirit were evident in every interaction, as she brought comfort and solace to countless families during their times of need.
A devoted mother, Emma leaves behind her daughters, Mary Kathryn O'Brien and her husband John, and Annemarie Norton and her husband Joseph Guzman. Her nurturing spirit extended to her stepson, William Norton and his wife Valerie. Emma's legacy of love continues in her cherished grandchildren, Keegan, Emma, and Hunter, who brought endless joy to her life. She is also survived by her dear brother, Carl Hamill and his wife Mary, and her nephew, Matthew Hamill, who held a special place in her heart.
Emma's life was enriched by her passions and interests. She had an eye for beauty, reflected in her love for shopping and jewelry, and she had a special fondness for dogs. She was a social butterfly, always ready to engage in conversation and share laughter with friends and family. Her enduring faith was evident in her membership with the Our Lady of Peace Choir, where she lifted her voice in song and praise.
Emma was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, whose memory she cherished and carried with her throughout her life. Together, they created a legacy of community service and love that will endure in the hearts of those who knew them.
A celebration of Emma's life will be held on May 19, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Norton Funeral Home, located at 1232 S. Black Horse Pike, Williamstown, NJ 08094. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a woman who touched so many with her kindness and grace.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Mary School, a cause dear to Emma's heart, reflecting her lifelong dedication to nurturing and supporting future generations.
