Emigdalina Delgado, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away in her sleep on September 9, 2026. Born on October 21, 1954, in the scenic town of Utuado, Puerto Rico, Emigdalina was the beloved daughter of the late Gabino Perez Boneta and Ramona Perez Gaud. Her early years in Puerto Rico were filled with the love and guidance of her parents and siblings, Deli, Nery, Octavio, June, Milton, William, Anderson, Brigida, and Maria Perez Gaud.
In 1973, Emigdalina embarked on a new chapter when she married the love of her life, Florentino Delgado, in Chicago. Their union, marked by devotion and adventure, spanned an inspiring 52 years. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Jorge M. Delgado and Rosalba Sandoval, instilling in them the values of kindness and community.
Emigdalina's professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. Her career included roles at Playskool, as a CTA driver, with the USPS, at Aeroflash, and notably, she dedicated 20 years to Action for Children before retiring. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her dedication to her family and community.
An avid walker, Emigdalina delighted in the simple joys of life, from the beauty of her garden to the vibrancy of neighborhood festivities. Her warm smile and generous spirit were her trademarks, and she had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcomed and valued.
Emigdalina's legacy lives on through her husband Florentino, her children Jorge and Rosalba, her son-in-law Miguel A. Sandoval Jr., her grandchildren Aisolis Ramos, Yarelis Ramos, Olivia D. Sandoval, and Miguel A. Sandoval III, and her great-grandchild Rosalia Sahagun. She is also survived by her siblings, who will continue to cherish the bond they shared.
Though she has left this world, Emigdalina's spirit and kindness have left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
