It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elyse Manning, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who departed this world on June 22, 2026, at the age of 69. Elyse left us after a valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by her family who adored her dearly. Born on March 14, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, Elyse was the cherished daughter of Lila and Donald Sobel. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her nephew, and her grandparents, who she often remembered with fondness and love. Elyse's journey in life was one filled with warmth, kindness, and a sparkle that brightened the lives of everyone she met. She grew up in a lively household, sharing her childhood with her siblings Jeff (Julie), Andrea (Barry), Jodi (John), Darren (Kelly), and Chad (Luana), who will forever hold her in their hearts. Elyse was a proud graduate of River Forest High School, class of 1975, where she forged lifelong friendships and laid the foundation for a life filled with compassion and generosity. Elyse's greatest joy came from her family. She was the devoted mother of her son, Zach, and a loving grandmother to her precious grandchildren, Daison and Haven. Her daughter-in-law, Mariah, often spoke of Elyse's boundless love and unwavering support. Elyse also leaves behind her cherished niece, Faith (Steve), and nephew Johnathan, along with many extended family members and close friends who became family along the way. In her community, Elyse was known for her radiant spirit and her ability to light up any room with her smile. Her friends and family fondly remember her as a woman who possessed an infectious laugh and an enormous heart. She had a knack for making everyone feel special and loved, a true testament to her character and the beautiful soul she was. A service to celebrate Elyse's life will be held on August 16, 2026, at 12:00 PM. Family and friends will gather to honor her memory, share stories of her kindness, and find comfort in the legacy of love she leaves behind. As we reflect on Elyse's life, we remember her as the sparkle in all of our lives—a guiding light whose warmth and compassion will continue to inspire us. Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the love and support shown by everyone during this difficult time.
